About Me

Wendy has been a lifelong professional designer, and artist, starting with the design of a swimming pool integrated into a hilly landscape when she was 9 yrs old, creating an illustrated study of the art of the Hermitage when she was 12, and getting A+ for a full house design, complete with all interior design elements (including all furnishings, paint chips & carpet samples!) when she was 16.

After graduating from Ontario College of Art in environmental design & graphics, she earned her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at University of Toronto, interning to become a full member of the OALA (Ontario Association of Landscape Architecture).

After working as an independent Landscape Architect for several years, Wendy designed a garden for a filmmaker who invited her to work on a Warner Brothers feature film.

She was invited to join the DGC (Director’s Guild of Canada).

Wendy worked her way quickly up to head of department, Production Designer.

She spent most of her career working in feature films and television (while still occasionally designing landscapes).

Eventually, Wendy, along with two partners, opened a film studio, Muskoka North Film Studios, that hosted top notch television series and features. At the same time, Wendy was an active member of the Parry Sound Chamber of Commerce. She also met and liaised with numerous economic development officers throughout Northern Ontario, and assisted with NHOFC and Ontario Creates film projects.

Wendy is currently executive and associate producer of several upcoming films.

With the sale of the film studio in 2020, Wendy semi-retired and moved to the village of Lynden Ontario, and began taking art classes at Dundas Valley School of Art, where she discovered Chinese Brush Painting.

This has become the main area of her artistic endeavours, along with Mandarin calligraphy.

She quickly learned about a master teacher, Zhang Baoxing, and continues her studies with him.

Wendy was invited to join the Sumi-e artists of Canada, and had her first showing and sales at the group show at the Japanese Cultural Centre in Toronto.

She has since joined the Women’s Art Association of Hamilton, and continues to show her art at various shows every two or three months throughout the year.

With her husband, Ted Ross, Wendy is enjoying their new home, their gardens, and especially their 5 children and 7 grandchildren.
